Obituary for Warren Ellwood "Cal" Calvin Jr.

Warren E. “Cal” Calvin, 85, passed away Sunday, April 27th, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Cal was born in Seattle, Washington on March 2nd, 1929 to Warren & Mildred Calvin. He had an idyllic childhood growing up in the West Seattle neighborhood of Fauntleroy where he made many lifelong friends.
Cal will be greatly missed by his family and many friends because of his engaging personality, keen intellect, insatiable curiosity, boundless energy, and contagious joy for life. A loving husband, parent, and grandparent he was devoted to and revered by his family.

Cal was an avid golfer and a member of the Delaware Country Club for over 50 years, where he won several championships. He was also a member of Lakewood Country Club in Naples, FL where he won club champion twice. He had 10 holes in one throughout his golfing “career”. Cal was the first orthodontist in Muncie, and practiced for 40 years.

He was united in marriage to Joan Cover on June 20th, 1953.Cal is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; daughters, Cathy (Allan) Klein, Cindy (Paul) Lykins, Patty (Dan) Hittle; son Warren (Cindy) Calvin; five grandchildren, Michael (Sandy) Calvin, Kristen Calvin, David (Angie) Lykins, Brenton and Kaitlin Klein; two brothers Charles and David Calvin; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Daniel Calvin. Cal and Joan enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL for 25 years where they had many dear friends.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Cal’s honor to the American Heart Association or First Presbyterian Church, 1400 West Riverside, Muncie, IN 47303. Memorial services for Cal will be held privately at Garden View Funeral Home.
