Obituary for
Jeffery Alan Blackmer
Fireman Jeffery Alan Blackmer #1147, 42, of Albany, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in the line of duty. He was born May 20, 1975 in Muncie, IN and was the son of the late Joseph Morris Blackmer and Shirley Jean (White) Harter.
Jeff was a loving father, brother, grandson, fiancé, and uncle. Jeff was a graduate of Cowan High School Class of 1995. He graduated from Madison College with a degree in firefighting in Wisconsin. Jeff was also employed with Lifetouch. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobile riding, hunting, camping and gaming. Jeff was a member of the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Jeff is survived by his two children, Nicholas Blackmer and Kellie Blackmer of Johnson Creek, WI; maternal grandmother Geneva White of Muncie; three brothers Joe Blackmer (Melissa) of Gaston, Jim Litteral (Gina) of Clarksville, TN, and Robert Harter (Deandra) of Destin, FL; three sisters Amanda Shadoan (Kendrick) of Muncie, April Neal (Brad) of Redkey, and Pam Wilson (Tim) of Muncie; his fiancé Emily Ried of Albany; four step-children Kassidee Dabbs of Muncie, Nicholas Dabbs of Albany and Makenna & Maicee Copley of Albany; fifteen nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jason Scott Blackmer and his step-father Billy J. Harter.
Funeral Services for Jeff will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Destiny Christian Center, 5000 East Centennial Avenue, Muncie, IN 47303, with Pastor Carlton Bowden of Northside Assembly of God officiating. Burial with honors will be following in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Destiny Christian Center. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department, with envelopes provided at the church.
