Obituary for Elmer Floyd Curtis

Elmer Floyd Curtis, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. The family is so thankful he is at peace. He loved his family dearly and always had a big heart for others. He was always eager to help others and was a very giving and caring man.
Elmer married Barbara Ann (Rein) Curtis on July 18, 1957 in Muncie, IN. Barbara preceded him in death on January 3, 2009. Elmer worked for the Indiana Bridge Corporation and the City of Muncie for several years before his retirement. He was a member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge 229 in New Burlington. He and his wife enjoyed being clowns for Clowns and Company. They were hobo clowns. His name was Squirt and her name was Sunflower. Many great memories were made over the years and he will be dearly missed.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Melissa Marquis (Randy) of Richmond, IN and Lisa Carper (James) of Akron, OH; companion, Esther Maxfield of Selma, IN; three brothers and one sister, Mort Curtis, David Curtis, Willard Curtis all of Muncie, IN and Barbara Bear (Larry) of Winchester, IN; four grandchildren, Michael Alexander of Muncie, IN, Jonathan Alexander of Akron, OH; Lindsey Mathews (Jordan) and Kelsey Maquis both of Richmond, IN; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Caleb, Jonathan Alexander, Livvie Mae and Rhees Mathews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Alexander, brother, Frank Curtis and sister Hazel Davis.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Matt Smith will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
