Bennie "Ben" Cummins
Bennie “Ben” Cummins, 77, passed away at his residence on Thursday January 11, 2018. He was born on May 3, 1940 to Alba and Rosie (Gibson) Cummins.
Ben worked for Delco Remy for 28 years as a utility worker. He was a member of the Alexandria Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Selma Legion.
Ben loved to start the morning with milk and cookies. He was a selfless man and had a genuine love and compassion for people. Ben was the leader of his family and taught them to love with their whole heart. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, dancing, cars, music and beating anyone in a hand of Euchre.
Ben is survived by his wife of 13 years Linda (Huber) Cummins, a son; Jeff Cummins, a daughter Nan Pelleter (Jeff), two stepsons Glenn Cleland (Ginny) and Eric Keesling (Kim), a step daughter; Lindsey Dubois (Chet), a brother Sam Cummins (Mary), nine grandchildren; Kresta Johnson (Marc), Kara Babcock (John), Aaron VanLoon ( Cathy), Zachary, Keagan, Karly, Caleb, Braelyn and Joel, six great grandchildren; Gaven, Griffen, Everett, Lyla, Nick and Ryan.
Bennie is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Beverly Cummins, two brothers Jack and Jerry Cummins, a sister Dorothy McNail, a daughter Jennifer Cummins, a step-son Ronald Cleland, a step-daughter Nancy VanLoon.
A funeral service for Bennie will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Monday January 15, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Bunch officiating. Friends may call on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to IU Ball Memorial Hospice as they were very kind to Ben.
