Viletta Lee Umberger, 95 of Yorktown, died Monday afternoon, January 15, 2018 at the Waters of Muncie. She was born February 3, 1922 in Gaston and was the daughter of the late Baron Humbert & Lefa Belle (Underwood) Broyles.

Viletta was a life member of the Gaston United Methodist Church and also attended The Compass Church in Selma. She was a member of the New Neighbors Home Economics Club and Raintree Porcelain Artist Guild. Viletta was a 1940 graduate of Harrison Township School. She loved and enjoyed being with her family, she loved being a farm wife.

Viletta is survived by her four children, Jane Weaver of Muncie, David Umberger (Trudy), Ralph Umberger (Kathy) both of Yorktown , and Phil Umberger (Diane) of Jordan, Minnesota; three granddaughters Lori Persinger (John) of Muncie, Stephanie Wulff (Brian) of Selma and Tricia Scott (Robert) of Muncie; two grandsons Andrew Umberger of Muncie and Kevin Umberger (Tabatha) of Fishers; five great-granddaughters Jessica Holsinger (Brandon) of Yorktown, Sydney and Sierra Wulff of Selma, Clara Scott of Muncie, and Lilah Umberger of Fishers; great-grandson Charlie Umberger of Fishers; a great-great-grandson Cooper Holsinger of Yorktown; two sisters Bonnie McColm (Bruce) of Gaston and Wilma Hittle of Mishawaka, Indiana.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Charles Umberger; great-grandson Jason Persinger; two brothers Forrest and Melville Broyles; four sisters Georgia Nickerson, Lois Beasley, Patty McKay, and Mary Carver.

Funeral Services for Viletta will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Bruneau officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Gaston United Methodist Church with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
