Jack Gordon Heffernan, 78 of Losantville, died Wednesday afternoon, July 20th, 2016 at Signature Healthcare. He was born January 1st, 1938 in Anderson, IN and was the son of the late James & Alpha (Rector) Heffernan.
Jack was an avid bicyclist, riding thousands of miles throughout the United States and Canada; sleeping under picnic tables, various campgrounds, and anywhere he could pitch his one man tent. Jack rode his bike to and from work for many years on highway 35 south before the convenience of the Cardinal Greenway. Jack worked for the Muncie Community Schools retiring in 2008.
Most importantly Jack dedicated his life to serving his Lord Jesus Christ and his greatest desire was that his family would also. Jack Attended Bible Tabernacle faithfully for 40 years, serving as a deacon for most of those years. Jack loved his church family.
The best decision of his life was to follow Christ. The next best decision was to marry his wife Mary during his time in the Airforce in England. She truly was the love of his life.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Signature Healthcare for the compassionate care they provided to Jack. They exceeded our expectations, ensuring that Jack was able to attend many special family occasions.
