Irva Lee Reams (Gilmore)
Irva Lee Reams, 84 of Muncie, died Friday morning, February 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 20, 1932 in Copeland, KS and was the daughter of Irvin and Lucille (Dailey) Gilmore during the disastrous dust bowl of the 30’s.
Irva grew up in Enid, OK and graduated from Enid High School. In 1952 she married Jake Reams, who had just received his wings as a pilot stationed at Vance Airforce Base in Enid. Irva enjoyed spending time with family which was a priority in her life. She enjoyed doing needlework, freezing and canning, the food that she and Jake had grown. Irva will be sadly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Irva was a wonderful mom who was a homemaker her entire life. In 1963 she became a member of a new church, Riverside Avenue Baptist Church. She served 13 years as church financial secretary and many years in the choir.
Irva is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jacob W. “Jake” Reams of Muncie; two daughters Sharon Hostetler (Myron) of Eaton and Janet Waldo (Mark) of Fort Collins, CO; a son Mark Alan Reams (Ellen) of Muncie; three grandsons, three granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Kevin Reams, and two sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.
Funeral Services for Irva will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church or Habitat for Humanity with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
