Roberta C. "Bobbie" Oaks (Crews)
Roberta C. “Bobbie” Oaks, 86 of Muncie, died Thursday evening, March 23, 2017 at Westminster Village. She was born May 25, 1930 in Ethridge, TN and was the daughter of the late Robert B. & Ola Pearl Crews (Moore).
Bobbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She began her career with First Merchants Bank in 1969 as an Audit Clerk. After working in the bank’s internal services department, she transferred to the comptroller’s department in 1974. Bobbie was promoted in 1982 to Administrative Assistant to the comptroller. She the retired on May 10, 1995. Prior to working at First Merchants she worked for Dr. J. Pippenger. Bobbie attended Union Chapel Church. She married the love of her life Boyd Oaks on November 28, 1953.
Bobbie is survived by her two children Don E. Oaks (Leslie S.) of Huntersville, NC and Donna O. Shelley (Kenneth A.) of Fishers; two grandchildren Sarah Bajor (Dan) of Indianapolis and Brian Shelley (fiancée Elisabeth Sobieski) both of Indianapolis; a great-grandson Graham Bajor of Indianapolis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Oaks on February 7, 1986; two sisters Jeanette Plemons and Betty Case.
Funeral Services for Bobbie will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
