Cathy Jane Krauskopf, 60, of New Castle, died unexpectedly Wednesday night, May 3, 2017 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born April 1, 1957 in Muncie and is the daughter of Norma Jean (Martin) Dirrim and the late Carl Edward Spilker.
Cathy was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and wife. She worked for many years as an elementary school teacher and was a strong supporter and advocate for children with disabilities and their families. Cathy was the co-founder of PEACE, an educational advocacy organization for people with disabilities. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and loved to cook. Cathy loved NFL football and was a Fantasy Football champion 3 out of the last 4 years. She adored her pet dog, Reggie, and loved taking care of and watching birds.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert Edward Krauskopf, whom she married June 19, 1982; her mother Norma Jean Dirrim of Muncie; three daughters Kaitlyn Nicole Krauskopf (husband Eli Cleveland) of Boston, MA, Elizabeth Anne Barner (husband Zachary) of Aliso Viejo, CA, and Eleanor Kaye Krauskopf of New Castle; two sisters Cindy Matulewicz (Leonard) of Oswego, IL and Teresa Norton of Holt, MI. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Jessica Renee Krauskopf.
Funeral services for Cathy will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.gardenviewfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hopewell Center located at 5325 S. Main Street, Anderson, IN 46013.
