Obituary for
Forrest D. Hurst
Forrest Devon Hurst, 94 of Muncie, passed away Thursday evening at Elmcroft of Muncie after a short illness. Forrest was born October 23, 1922 in Wells County, to Claude C. and Inez (Hunt) Hurst.
Forrest graduated from Muncie Central High School before he joined the Army Air Corp. in 1942 and served during WWII. He married the love of his life, Jane (Bird) in the summer of 1947. He retired from his mail carrier job with the Muncie Post Office after 40+ years of service and then worked for several additional years as a mail courier for a local bank.
He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and at Westside Church of Christ where he was a member. All who knew him experienced his kidding sense of humor and wit. He will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jane, his brother Cledith Hurst and parents Claude and Inez Hurst.
He is survived by son Dennis Hurst (wife Debbie) of Eagle Point, Oregon, daughter Julie Barker of Muncie, four grandchildren, Ben Hurst (Eagle Point, OR); Joshua Hurst (wife Jessica) of Fishers, IN; Tiffany Roberts of Daleville, IN and Megan Campbell of Indianapolis. Also surviving are 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Forrest D. Hurst will be on Monday August 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Garden View Funeral Home. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 4-6 PM and an hour before the service on Monday. Burial will follow with Military honors at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
