Evelyn Thornburg (Carter)
Evelyn Thornburg, 99, of Muncie, passed away at Signature Health Care on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She was born September 6, 1918 in Blanchester, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Eli H and Lodeska A. (Hubert) Carter.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards and board games with her family. Evelyn had attended Avondale United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a Housing Supervisor at Ball State University for several years and worked in many area grocery stores as well. She also volunteered in medical records at Ball Memorial Hospital for several years.
Evelyn is survived by her three children Donna Kay Thornburg of Muncie, Paul E. Thornburg (Beulah) of Parker City, and Bruce D. Thornburg (Paula) of Mt. Washington, KY; seven grandchildren Brad, Bill, Mike, and Jon Thornburg, Angela Smith, Jennifer Thornburg, and Mindy Priest; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence “Dale” Thornburg; a daughter Sueann Thornburg; two brothers Hubert and Joe Carter; two sisters Mary E. Grant and Anna K. “Betty” Davis.
Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastors Michael Thornburg and Jeremiah Ferguson officiating. Burial will be privately in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
